Our Story & Heritage

Founded in 1978, Bereton Montessori School was established as a pioneer private nursery and primary educational institution in Port Harcourt with a commitment to child-centered learning.

Building Foundation for Future Leaders

For nearly five decades, Bereton Montessori School has set the standard for early childhood and primary education in Rivers State. What started as a vision to provide authentic Montessori education has grown into a prestigious citadel of learning with multi-acre campuses in Stadium Road and Old GRA.

Our sister institution, Charles Dale Memorial International School, extends this commitment into full boarding secondary education, equipping students with global university entry qualifications.

Chief (Mrs) Victoria Diete-Spiff

Founder & Managing Director • Yeye-Ilu of Lagos ("Big Mummy")

The Bereton mission is one with a human face. Montessori trained and widely experienced, Chief (Mrs) Victoria Diete-Spiff is progressive and dynamic.

In recognition of her contribution to child education in Nigeria, she was conferred with the Chieftaincy title of Yeye-Ilu of Lagos — Mother of all. The title reflects her natural affinity for children, who fondly call her "Big Mummy".

“My dream is to give the children a solid foundation in all fields of study, to make them self-reliant and confident even at a tender age,” she says fondly.
